Mediation is great for Stress relief - What do you suggest for deep relaxation when someone just doesn't get the idea of meditation? Everyone's ideas are welcome and the more the merrier :)

WOW ! A great thought. I would like to share the process / method I usually practice OR suggest to friends who are not familiar with the formal Meditation.

ONE SHOULD :

* Wash Face / back of the Ears
* Wash Hands up to elbow & Feet up to knees
* If possible light incense OR Use Perfumed Candle
* If interested in music - play a soft tune of FLUTE ( No songs plz )
* Then Close the eyes
* Take slow deep breath hold it for few seconds & release it slow ( Repeat it for 7 or 9 times )
* While Breathing IMAGINE / VISUALIZE some best moments of life

Once the process is OVER .. wash the face again & ENJOY the bliss of RELAXATION.

CHEERS

Hello Everyone
I enjoy the classic Metta or Loving Kindness meditation. I find that it is crucial in todays world to send love to yourself. So many people do not know how to esteem and care for what they are in this life. They think of all the flaws, and how they try hard to be good people.

This adds stress and makes so they become frustrated because it seems when it does not work that they do not have the divine love them. Sending loving kindness to yourself and others really makes a difference.

This is the page for the download of meditation techniques. All of them are good but the Metta meditation is my favorite. I do this to relax no matter where I am at as it can be done with out being obvious.

I like to send loving kindness to people in Wal-mart when I am relaxing having a cup of coffee. No one notices except the person themselves who starts to smile.

Hi Anne-Marie, I have found that when a client is very stressed, they find it extremely hard to meditate at first, so I always advice them to try a couple of sessions of Reiki, and then they find they have got through the dense barrier in order to then consentrate and so find it easy to go into a meditation.

For me it's has been 12 years since i began to do meditation. On fact, i utilise visualisation, so perhaps for who begins, it's good to began as a fairy, or as a film inside your head. At the same time you think in being more and more relaxed, with a relaxed music if is difficult to do.
The first time i began to do it, i began making one travel around my body; it begins for feet and ending to your head; every time you pass for one part of your body, you feel more and more heavy; and i imagine what's happening. After that, i think in a very beautiful picture where i am. Every one choose its prefer, it's favourite place: beach, mountain, reading...walking...what ever you want.
At the begining it's true, perhaps a lot of things come to your head, but...you must imagine you are as a montain, which there is the storm, the cloud, the animals, the human participation, but it's doesn't move. It's permanent. I hope that gives you good ideas! Good week-end!

If meditations not your thing, the thing that relaxes me the most if I'm reallly stressed out and detoxifies is a full body massage by a certified massage therapist; preferably with essential oils.

How about a picnic in the countryside- that can be very relaxing too.

Hello Everyone,
What I do is actually call it laying down, I started this to say to my kids when I was going to meditate and it has worked wonders for me.
I will go and lay down for a short time and then I have seem to in the past get to a meditated state from there.
I have also been using this opportunity to call it a power nap as well.
Lay down for a few minutes probably 10 minutes and wake feeling refreshed as it was a hour!
If there is a fear in someone to meditate maybe just call it a nap and see what happens.

Also a great way to feel good is using essential oils in the tub, It smells wonderful and can be very relaxing as well as good for your aches and pains.
Maybe light a nice candle and use a little sea salt for energizing as well.
I have a friend that does this for meditation and works very well for him.

Hi Anne-Marie,
I do real estate for a living and in my office alone there has been 3 heart attacks and one women is now working from home as she is to sick to come in.
What I suggest to some of my friends is to leave the office during the day and drive to the park and just do nothing.
Relax and allow your body to catch up to your mind.
I would suggest doing this everyday as a form of just learning to relax.

I believe people need breaks during the day and just a chance to breath.
I would recommend this to others who do not meditate, I am sure that half of my office does not know what that word means!

One women at a office I use to work at is probably one of the top agents in our state.
She probably works 6 days a week.
When I ran into her a couple times I had noticed she is still the same happy go lucky person she had been when the market was different.
I wondered what was the difference from her and all the agents I know that are stressed, Oh there are a bunch!
First of all everyday her husband picks her up for lunch.
She leaves the office and enjoys herself.
As I was talking to her she enjoys reading and that could very well be a important subject as it gets your mind off everyday thoughts and takes you into the book.

Have a wonderful day,
Cleone

well, I am not that good in meditating even thought I guess I should do it more and I do like it.

but when in a stress situation usually in my case, I can not take a bath, lay down but have to keep talking, working or whatever I do ...
I started to realize that it does not take much to let stress go ... first I realized that no one and nothing can stress me if I do not allow it (even I only allow it subconsciously) and there are reasons, beliefs why we let ourselves stress ... but what to do when in that situation ... I still get in such situations

So, what I do is take a deep breath or more than one time, usually after 3 times the whole stress is gone, I can do that even in a conversation ... and be mindful, I think there is no room for stress if you are mindful and you can combine the two and take mindful deep breaths. I often find myself not breathing well, this since I am more mindful and it is scary cause I know and see others how they take breaths in stress situations, many including me are not at all breathing enough, it is just enough to keep them alive, like under water, which might be a good analogy to stress by the way :)))

on my homepage this is also the 1. point I list in the foundation of health or healing and stress also manifests in the body, by breathing it relaxes the body and so the mind ....
1. Oxygen (oxygenation of the body)
* is the primary fundamental key that allows the cells to build themselves in the way they need to
* many do not get enough oxygen since the atmosphere is loaded with pollutants and people are not mindful about breathing
* what you can do, deep breathing exercises, some kind of yoga, relaxation to avoid panic breathing which is short breaths and does not allow oxygenation to fully occur

Meditating is a practiced form. trying to get my impatient (older) children to do it, is sometimes impossible lol. ((I think they get tired of my constant preaching. LOL.))

this is what I tell them...

1. three breaths in through nose and out through mouth (because this makes me feel very relaxed).
2. visualize a place that you would love to be that makes you happy. i.e. beach, forest, mountains etc. and just wander. the one thing I stress is to make sure they are looking through their eyes not picturing themselves there.

and that is it.

They have told me it works to relax them and clear their head.
