A THOUGHT ON SEMI - PRECIOUS GEM STONES

o Aquamarine - It is called "Beruj" in Sanskrit and is from the family of Emerald having the sky color. This also is a transparent and has all the qualities that of an emerald. It is suggested that people who do not have access to expensive Emerald wear it. It is believed that people, who go on long a voyage, wear it for protection. Aquamarine has very calming if used as a necklace, armlet, amulet or pendant. It increases feminine virtues in females.

o Carnelian – comes in different colors - Red, Brown and Orange. Wearing a necklace made of Carnelian gives perseverance, self – confidence, and also said to removes the evil effects. Since it absorbs excessive body heat and has healing ability and it has been seen that if a person gets fever during evenings, wearing a bracelet / necklace heals.

o Citrine – comes in yellow and transparent, this gem stone is less expensive. Since Yellow Sapphire is very expensive, this can be used as the substitute. As per the learned scholars, it increases one's fortune. Egyptians and Romans believe that Citrine can be sued when an individual is suffering from weak sight or any disease concerning eyes. It is also believed t that it brings financial success and increases physical power, long life, honor, and good for relationship, career success, beauty and wisdom. It also helps to in sound sleep and helps fighting night-mare.

o Garnet – since ages Garnet has been considered as most popular Gem Stone, it is very a popular in fashion. Its color is crimson, smooth in texture and looks beautiful. Astrologically is it worn as the substitute of Ruby, which is worn to enhance the effects of SUN. It is believed that wearing Garnet in ring, pendant or necklace, it increases fortune, individual’s health improves and a person gets overall success. Wearing Garnet also is very beneficial for rheumatism; helps stop bleeding, and cures diseases caused by formation of stones in the body. It also promotes vigor and vitality and acts as a stimulant.

Are there other semi precious gem stones that Vedic astrology believes to have healing properties? Would you use any of the above stones to make a chakra necklace or bracelet, or would you use them alone?
